So the cowboys missed out the crown yesterday. Much hyped and controversial Brokeback Mountain, considered as the Oscar's frontrunner this year, after winning so many awards, lost to interracial drama Crash. My favourite Felicity Huffman also lost to Reese Witherspoon for Best Actress (who knows the Legally Blonde star could someday snatch that? I love Witherspoon!), while Ang Lee became the first Asian to win the Best Director award. And this year saw no major domination by any film. Four films scored 3 Oscars each, Crash (Best Picture, screenplay, editing), Brokeback Mountain (director, adapted screenplay, original score), King Kong (sound editing, sound mixing, visual effects) and Memoirs of a Geisha (cinematography, art direction, costume design)

Ang Lee - Best Director

Philip Seymour Hoffman / Reese Witherspoon - Best Actor / Actress
